Worship the Lord of Uma

ఉమాపతి యర్చన 

(ఇది గురజాడ అప్పారావు గారిచే రచించబడిన "నీలగిరి పాటలు" నుండి సేకరించబడింది. అప్పారావు గారు శివుని పై తనకు గల భక్తి అభిమానాలను తెలుపుతూ 1907 ప్రాంతంలో వ్రాసి తాను పనిచేస్తున్న, విజయనగరం రీవా మహారాణి అప్పలకొండయాంబ గారికి సమర్పించటం జరిగింది). ఇందులో ప్రకృతి చేతనే శివుని అభిషేకించడం మహాద్భుతంగా ఉంటుంది. ఆ ఊహలే గురజాడ గారి అపూర్వ శివ భక్తికి నిదర్శనం - పరమ శివ భక్తికి తార్కాణం.

పల్లవి:

ఉదకమండలమున - నుమాపతి యర్చన 

కోటి గుణితమై - కోరిక లీడేర్చును.

అనుపల్లవి:

వేల్లనౌ మబ్బులు - విరిసి వెన్నెల గాయ 

వెండికొండని సురలు - వేడ్కతో రాగ.

చరణములు:

కర్పూర తరువులు  కంబములై తోప 

మిన్ను పందిరిబోల - మించు దివ్వెలుగా 

బచ్చల హసియించు - పచ్చికపై విరు 

లచ్చర లిడు మ్రుగ్గు - టచ్చున వెలయగ.

దేవదారు తరులు - దివ్యగంధము లీన 

యక్షగానము మీరి - పక్షులు పలుక 

రసిత మల్లదె శంఖ - రావమై చెలగగ

దీవలేములు పూలు - తిరముగ గురియగ.

ఆశ్రితవరదు - డంబికా రమణుడు 

బాల చంద్రమౌళి - భక్తికి నెద మెచ్చి 

రాజరాజ పుత్రి - రాజ్ఞి నప్పలకొండ 

యంబ బ్రోచుగాత - నధిక సౌఖ్యము లిచ్చి.

Worship the Lord of Uma

Worship the Lord of Uma on the Blue Hills and you acquire merit a thousand fold.

White clouds envelop the peaks and make moonlight - and gods take the Blue Hills for the silver mountains and crowd with enthusiasm.

They witness Nature's worship of Siva there. The tall eucalyptuses form columns and the sky the awning. Lightning serves for lights and flower beds in the midst of green grass look like ornamentation of the floor by wood nymphs in coloured powders.

The pines waft divine odours, and the birds sign as never nymphs sang. The thunder serves as the music of the conch - shell and creeper damsels shed flowers.

May the Lord of Ambika who wears the moon - crescent as a crest-jewel save Maharani Appala Kondayamba, daughter of the great king, pleased with her devotion.

Shiva Pooja Niyam & Abhisheka Phalam

శివపూజ చేసేటపుడు మనము గుర్తుంచుకోదగినవి
 చేయవలసినవి - చేయకూడనివి 

1. "నా రుద్రో రుద్ర మర్చయేత్" - రుద్రాంశను తనయందు నింపుకుని (లఘున్యాసము లేదా మహాన్యాసము ద్వారా చేయగలము) మాత్రమే రుద్రుని అర్చించవలెను.
2. శివపూజ చేయు సమయమున తప్పక నొసట విభూతి, మేడలో రుద్రాక్షమాల ధరించవలెను.
3.  శివాభిషేకము / శివపూజ చేసిన పిదప స్నానము చేయ కూడదు - చేసిన మహా పాతకము.
4.  వేదములలో శతరుద్రీయము గొప్పది. యజుర్వేదాంతర్గతమైన ఈ రుద్రము మహా మహిమాన్వితము. దానిని పటించుచూ లింగాభిషేకము చేసిన అనంత ఫలము లభించును.
5.  తడి బట్టలచే పూజ చేయరాదు. తడి బట్టలు దిగంబరముతో సమానము. తడి బట్టలను అమంగళములు ఆశ్రయించుకొని ఉండును.
6. ప్రదక్షిణ చేయునపుడు నెలలు నిండిన గర్భిణి నీటి బిందెను తీసుకుని నడచినంత నెమ్మదిగా అడుగులు వేస్తూ శివుని మనసున ధ్యానిస్తూ ప్రదక్షిణ చేయాలి. పరుగెత్తుట, త్వరత్వరగా  నడచుట కూడదు.
7.  శివపూజ యందు దవలాక్షతలను వాడవలెను. దవలాక్షతలు ముక్తి దాయకములు.
8. శివపూజ యందు శివునికి ప్రీతికరమైన ఎర్ర గన్నేరు, నందివర్ధనం, జిల్లేడు, సంపెంగ, వాకుడు, సురపొన్న అను ఎనిమిది పుష్పములను వాడవలెను, అన్నీ లభ్యము కాకున్న, కనీసము  ఏదేని ఒకటి తప్పక ఉపయోగించుట ఫలప్రదము. అష్టపుష్పముల పూజ అష్టైశ్వర్య దాయకము.
9. మారేడు దళములతో శివుని పూజించిన ఇహమున సుఖమును - పరమున కైలాస ప్రాప్తిని పొందగలరు.
10. రుద్రాద్యాయము నిత్యమూ పటించిన సర్వమూ వశమగును. 
11. శివాభిశేక సమయమున కొబ్బరికాయ కొట్టి ఆ నీటితో అభిషేకించి, ఆ కొబ్బరి చిప్పలను పక్కన పెట్టాలి, శివుని దెగ్గర పెట్టి నివేదించుటకు పనికిరావు.
